When choosing rubber footing, note that sizes larger than 1/2 inch may still contain metals and may also become slippery when wet, while pieces smaller than 1/4 inch may pack down and prohibit proper drainage.

The ratio of rubber footing to sand varies depending on how the riding surface will be used.

We recommend:

Dressage:   Mix 1-1/2" of sand with 1/2" rubber.
Hunter/Jumper:   Mix 1" of sand with 1" rubber.

Total footing depth (including sand) not to exceed 2 1/2 inches.

Use this equation to calculate the tons needed for your desired depth of footing.

1/2"   x   =   x 1.25 =
